Scriabine considérait la musique comme partie d’une oeuvre d’art totale (Gesamtkunstwerk) élevant l’homme à un niveau de conscience supérieure. Cet idéal est tout particulièrement et clairement réalisé dans son oeuvre de maturité «Vers la flamme» op. 72. Le poème débute par des accords statiques, fragiles et s’élève lentement, mais progressivement des profondeurs vers la lumière. Différentes couches sonores aux rythmes changeants se déplacent peu à peu l’une sur l’autre et produisent une frénétique tension. Des trémolos et des fanfares s’entassent vers la fin, conduisant à un puissant «incendie» orchestral. Cette oeuvre très évocatrice du mystique Scriabine est savamment commentée dans les textes qui accompagnent notre édition Urtext par la spécialiste Valentina Rubcova.
